Most people think weight is just a number.

A pallet weighs 800kg. A machine weighs 2 tonnes. A trailer weighs 44 tonnes.

Simple.

In reality, logistics is far more interested in where that weight sits than simply how much there is.

Hold it by the middle and it’s easy. Hold it by the end of the handle and suddenly it becomes awkward and unstable, even though the hammer hasn’t gained a single gram.

The total weight might remain unchanged, but moving the cargo forwards, backwards or upwards changes the vehicle’s centre of gravity. That affects steering, braking, cornering and even how much force each axle carries. After initially working with The Dash Group on a part time basis, Brian has now stepped into the role full time.

Describing the transition, he says it’s been “busy, in the best possible way.” Being fully immersed in the business has allowed him to build momentum quickly and start making a meaningful impact across the company.

One of the things he’s most looking forward to is spending more time with customers:

“I’m looking forward to working closely with teams across the business to understand where we can make improvements that benefit individuals, strengthen collaboration, and ultimately drive success for the company as a whole. I’m also excited to spend more time meeting with our customers, learning about their challenges, and exploring how we can help them achieve their goals and ambitions.”
